Doreen Decasa was born in Honolulu and raised surrounded by Hawaii’s tropical flowers, picturesque beaches, and majestic mountain ranges. As a young girl, Doreen didn’t realize her yearning to capture the beauty of her surroundings was instilled in her by her father, who passed away when she was 12 years old. Over a decade later, Doreen discovered among her father’s possessions a 250-page hand-bound manual entitled “Your Photography Training,” published in 1931 by the American School of Photography.
Doreen has come a long way from her first camera, a plastic Mickey Mouse model in the shape of Mickey’s head.
She currently resides on Oahu, nestled between Kaneohe Bay and the Ko’olau Mountain Range, blessed with morning showers and breathtaking sunrises. Doreen is inspired by the minute details in nature and strives to capture that beauty through her photography.
